Breaking News: President Biden will extend the pause on federal student loan payments until Aug. 31, according to an administration official. It’s the latest extension of a pandemic relief measure that began more than two years ago.
“America is stronger than we were a year ago, but we are still recovering from the pandemic and the unprecedented economic disruption it caused,” Biden tweeted Wednesday. “Today’s extension of the pause on student loan repayments will provide a continued lifeline as we recover and rebuild from the pandemic.
While some Americans are at least grateful for the extension, many are demanding that the president cancel student debt altogether. Considering the looming inflationary costs of the pandemic, it would provide relief to millions of Americans.
