Briana Perkins, a Boston Public Schools teacher, aims to get books depicting Black joy into more homes and schools. This sister believes “Representation Matters. Always All Ways.”

Putting her money where her mouth is, she decided to create LIT for Black Kids Bookstore ( @LitForBlackKids )! It is an online store that sells children’s books that portray Black kids just being kids – playing, laughing, and going to school.

Perkins told the @BostonGlobe in a recent interview, “It’s crucial that we highlight Black joy. Sharing Black stories, sharing Black literature, sharing everything 365 days of the year and not just because it’s a trending topic or holiday.”
Perkins also created an online platform @LitForBlackKids where she shares and sells the work of Black authors and illustrators who portray Black children’s joy. Be sure to follow and support this sister. She’s an example of being the change we wish to see! #BWLM💕
