Tensions in the eastern part of the world are growing as #Russia began launching military attacks at #Ukraine in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Russia sent tanks and troops into Ukraine, hitting cities, military bases and airports with airstrikes and shelling. Ukraine says that its troops are fighting on a number of fronts.
President #JoeBiden says that he met with leaders of the G7 nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union) and plans to impose more sanctions on Russia in an attempt to end the attacks.
This morning, I met with my G7 counterparts to discuss President Putin’s unjustified attack on Ukraine and we agreed to move forward on devastating packages of sanctions and other economic measures to hold Russia to account. We stand with the brave people of Ukraine.
