The Atlanta Dream had not played a WNBA Finals game since 2013, and on Friday night at Barclays Center they finished a sweep of the New York Liberty to get back to one. The score was 85 to 83. Angel Reese had 22 points and nine rebounds, Rhyne Howard had 21, and Jordin Canada had 19 points and 11 assists.
They closed it out without Allisha Gray, who went out with a finger injury in Game 1 and missed the last two games of the series. Two nights before the sweep, Atlanta had won 101 to 98 in overtime at State Farm Arena on October 7, 2026, with Reese scoring six of the team’s 13 overtime points.
A year ago Reese wrote that she was manifesting the finals. Asked about it after the sweep, she did not take a victory lap. “The job isn’t done,” she said.
The Finals begin October 17 at Chase Center in San Francisco, against Golden State, and they are best of seven. Neither franchise has ever won a WNBA title. One of them is about to.
