Kimber Warren founded the luxury glassware brand Sela K in December 2025, and in a profile published September 29, 2026, she described how she built it without ever having made a piece of glass.
“I was not a glassmaker,” she said. “So I became a student of the category.”
What she did have was fifteen years as a brand strategist, with Meta, Spotify and Viacom on her resume. She put that to work on an aisle most of us walk past. Sela K makes hand blown stemware in three sculptural designs and two colors, produced by a second generation glass artist in Asheville, North Carolina.
That is the whole business, and the restraint is the point. Three designs. Two colors. One maker. No attempt to be everything to a table.
It is worth sitting with on a Monday, because the move she made is one a lot of us are circling. She did not wait to become an expert. She did not buy a factory. She learned a category she respected, found the person who already had the hands, and put her name on the part she was actually good at.
Luxury glassware is not a lane Black women have been handed. Warren did not ask for it. She studied it, then went and took a seat at the table she makes the glasses for.
