Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has taken full ownership of SirDavis American Whisky, giving her complete control of the premium spirits brand she helped launch in 2024. The move also transforms SirDavis into a woman-owned, family-owned, and Black-owned company, marking an important moment for Black entrepreneurship in the luxury beverage industry.
The ownership change comes after French luxury company Moët Hennessy sold its stake in the brand. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the deal allows Beyoncé to guide SirDavis into its next chapter under independent leadership. The decision also adds another fully owned company to her growing business portfolio.
Beyoncé Takes Full Control of SirDavis Whisky
A spokesperson for SirDavis described the sale as the beginning of a new era for the company after nearly four years of working alongside Moët Hennessy to create and launch the whisky brand.
“Knowles-Carter takes full ownership and control, making SirDavis a woman-, family- and Black-owned company,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
The announcement highlights Beyoncé’s continued growth as an entrepreneur. Although she is globally known for her music career, she has steadily expanded into fashion, beauty, entertainment, and consumer products. Full ownership of SirDavis gives her complete authority over the brand’s future direction and long-term strategy.
SirDavis Whisky Honors Beyoncé’s Family Legacy
SirDavis was introduced in 2024 through a partnership between Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy, the luxury wine and spirits division of LVMH. The whisky carries deep personal meaning because it is named after Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue.
According to the brand, Hogue made moonshine during the Prohibition era. By naming the whisky after him, Beyoncé created a product that celebrates her family’s history while connecting it to a modern luxury brand.
That personal story has helped distinguish SirDavis from many celebrity-backed spirits. Rather than relying only on star power, the brand also highlights family heritage and craftsmanship.
Premium American Whisky Continues to Expand
SirDavis American Whisky is distilled in Indiana using a mash bill made of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. It is then blended, finished, and bottled in Texas before reaching consumers.
The whisky launched nationwide with a suggested retail price of $89. Since then, the brand has grown through limited-edition releases, retail promotions, and marketing connected to Beyoncé’s successful Cowboy Carter era.
Although neither Beyoncé nor Moët Hennessy has publicly explained the reason behind the ownership change, the brand appears ready to continue expanding under her leadership.
Moët Hennessy Restructures While Beyoncé Expands Her Business Empire
The transaction comes as Moët Hennessy continues broader restructuring efforts. The luxury drinks company has been adjusting its operations as premium beverage sales have slowed across several international markets.
Moët Hennessy remains one of the world’s largest luxury spirits companies. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Hennessy cognac, Dom Pérignon, and Krug Champagne.
For Beyoncé, however, the deal represents another major business milestone. Full ownership gives her greater freedom to shape SirDavis’ future while increasing Black ownership in an industry where independent Black-owned luxury brands remain relatively rare.
Black Ownership Creates New Opportunities for Future Growth
Complete ownership allows Beyoncé to make every major business decision without outside partners. That flexibility could help SirDavis expand into new markets, introduce new products, and strengthen its place in the premium whisky industry.
The move also sends a strong message about the value of Black ownership and family-led businesses. As more entrepreneurs seek greater control over the brands they build, SirDavis stands as another example of creating wealth through ownership instead of partnerships alone.
For Beyoncé, SirDavis is now more than a premium whisky brand. It is also part of a growing business legacy built around family history, entrepreneurship, and long-term ownership.
