From Survival Mode to Beauty School: Stormi Steele’s Early Struggles and Breakthrough
Stormi Steele did not begin her journey in business from comfort or privilege. Instead, her story started in a difficult place while she was a college student in Mississippi. She was close to finishing her degree, but felt emotionally drained and unsure about her future.
At one point, she even struggled with deep depression and thoughts of giving up. However, she made a life changing decision to fight for herself and choose a new path. That choice led her into beauty school, where she began rebuilding her life step by step.
After moving to Huntsville, Alabama, she started working as a hairstylist. She built her early client base through Facebook messages, flyers, and word of mouth. Soon, she was working long hours daily, determined to create stability for herself.
How Canvas Blossom Serum Created the Foundation of Canvas Beauty Brand
While working with clients, Stormi Steele noticed a common problem. Many women were dealing with hair thinning and traction alopecia. This pushed her to search for solutions beyond styling.
She began experimenting with natural ingredients in her kitchen. After testing different formulas, she created Canvas Blossom Serum, a product designed to support hair growth and scalp health. This product became the first major step toward building her brand.
In 2015, she sold just over 100 bottles on Facebook. Remarkably, they sold out the same night. That early success showed her that she had something powerful in her hands, even before she fully understood the scale of what was coming.
Scaling Canvas Beauty Into a Multimillion Dollar E-Commerce Brand
The real turning point came in 2018 after a trip to New York City. Inspired by the city’s energy, she decided to fully commit to e-commerce. She built her own website and shifted away from relying only on salon work.
The results were immediate and strong. In the first month alone, Canvas Beauty generated about $50,000 in sales. Within a year, the brand crossed $1 million in revenue. By 2020, it had reportedly grown to over $20 million in sales.
This rapid growth positioned Canvas Beauty as one of the fast rising beauty brands in social commerce. It also proved that independent founders could scale quickly through digital platforms.
TikTok Live Selling and the Reinvention of Canvas Beauty Empire
Even after early success, Stormi Steele’s journey was not without setbacks. In 2022, the business faced a major financial crisis that left the company struggling with serious debt issues. She described being “at zero” during that period.
Instead of shutting down, she rebuilt the company again. She expanded into body and skincare products, including the viral Body Glaze line. Then she leaned fully into TikTok live selling, using transparency and storytelling to connect with customers in real time.
This strategy changed everything. One live session generated $150,000 in just two hours. Another later session made over $1 million in a single livestream, placing her among the pioneers of modern live commerce in beauty.
Leadership, Media Control, and Building Wealth on Her Own Terms
Beyond products and sales, Stormi Steele also focused on ownership and control of her narrative. Through her return to reality TV on “Belle Collective,” she negotiated a producer role so she could guide how her story is told.
She also continues to work strategically across media and partnerships. Her collaborations are intentional, focusing on authenticity and long term brand growth rather than quick visibility.
Despite her national success, she remains rooted in Alabama, where she lives on equestrian property. For her, building wealth was not just about money, but about peace and freedom.
