Millions of women live with heavy menstrual bleeding every month, often in silence and without clear support. Now, a new partnership between Always and The Fibroid Foundation is working to change that reality with a stronger menstrual care product and a new education hub designed to help women understand what is happening in their bodies.

The collaboration introduces Always’ most absorbent pad yet, the Maxi Size 6, alongside a dedicated resource hub focused on heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroid awareness. Together, both tools aim to reduce stigma, improve education, and give women more control over their health.

Always and Fibroid Foundation Heavy Flow Pad Launch and Support Hub for Women

The new initiative brings together menstrual care and health education in one coordinated effort. Always has developed the Maxi Size 6 pad, designed for women who experience very heavy flow, while The Fibroid Foundation has created an online resource hub that explains symptoms, treatment options, and next steps for care.

According to the partners, the goal is simple: help women feel seen, supported, and better prepared to manage heavy menstrual bleeding. The resource hub also encourages open conversations, which many women still avoid due to embarrassment or lack of information.

At the center of the campaign is a shared message that heavy periods are not something women should quietly endure. Instead, they should be understood as a possible medical condition that deserves attention and proper care.

Understanding Fibroids and Heavy Menstrual Bleeding in Women’s Health

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in or on the uterus and are one of the leading causes of heavy menstrual bleeding. Health experts estimate that a large number of women will develop fibroids by age 50, with Black women being particularly affected.

Despite how common the condition is, many women go years without a diagnosis. Symptoms can include extremely heavy periods, pain, anemia, fatigue, and other health challenges that disrupt daily life.

For many, the issue is not just medical—it is also emotional. Women often normalize their symptoms, assuming heavy bleeding is simply “how periods are supposed to be,” which delays treatment and support.

Real Stories Behind Fibroid Awareness and Women’s Health Advocacy

The Fibroid Foundation was created to change how women understand and respond to heavy menstrual bleeding. Founder Sateria Venable shared her personal journey, explaining that she also once believed painful and heavy periods were normal.

“We normalize it. I thought that was my plight as well,” Venable said, reflecting on her early experiences before diagnosis.

Her story highlights a deeper problem in women’s healthcare: delayed diagnosis, limited treatment information, and emotional stress caused by repeated symptoms. Many women, like Venable, only discover fibroids after years of discomfort.

Today, she continues to push for better conversations between patients and doctors, encouraging women to speak openly, prepare questions before appointments, and seek second opinions when needed.

How Always Developed Its Largest Pad for Heavy Period Support

The development of the Maxi Size 6 pad was based on real-life experiences from women living with heavy menstrual bleeding. Always researchers conducted in-home visits and listened directly to women describe how they manage their periods every day.

Some women explained how they use multiple pads at once for protection, while others shared how heavy bleeding has affected their sleep, work, and daily confidence. These experiences helped shape the final product design.

The Maxi Size 6 is designed to be more absorbent than previous versions, with added leak protection and a larger back panel to support heavier flow. It is aimed at helping women feel more secure and less restricted during their cycles.

Breaking Stigma and Improving Menstrual Health Education Worldwide

Beyond the product launch, the partnership is focused on changing how society talks about menstrual health. Both organizations stress that education is key to breaking long-standing stigma around heavy periods.

The Fibroid Foundation also continues to expand globally, reaching women in more than 180 countries and working to improve medical training on fibroids and menstrual health conditions.

As awareness grows, the partnership hopes more women will recognize symptoms early, seek care without fear, and understand that they are not alone in their experiences.

Supporting Women Living With Fibroids Through Better Care and Resources

Looking ahead, both organizations plan to expand advocacy efforts, including public health events and educational campaigns. These efforts are designed to push menstrual health conversations into mainstream healthcare and policy discussions.

The resource hub remains a key part of this mission, offering guidance on symptoms, treatment options, and questions women can ask their healthcare providers.

Ultimately, the message from the partnership is clear: women deserve dignity, understanding, and access to proper care throughout their menstrual health journey.
