Margie’s family is almost too big to believe. The Oakland matriarch has 150 grandchildren. She also has 50 great-grandchildren. Furthermore, she has 50 great-great-grandchildren. This sums up to 250 direct descendants. Her five-generation family tree is still growing. Recently, she shared her amazing story on national television.
A Viral Matriarch Shares Her Family Story
Margie appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show. She explained her family’s incredible size. The host was naturally stunned. Hudson asked how she keeps track of everyone. Margie’s answer was honest and heartwarming. She admitted she cannot know every single name.
Instead, she focuses on the beautiful connections. “I do not know all the names,” Margie said. “I have seven adult children. When I get down to the fourth generation, I say that is my son’s daughter.” She simply calls them all “family.” Her overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude. “I am so blessed, Jennifer. I am blessed to be here,” she told the host.
From Child Bride to Family Foundation
Her journey began with a very early start. Margie was born in Amarillo, Texas. She is now 85 years old. Her daughter Pat revealed the difficult beginning. “She was a child bride at 14,” Pat explained on the show. Motherhood began soon after for Margie.
She had five children before turning 21. Ultimately, she had eight children in total. Seven are alive today. From those seven, a sprawling legacy was built. The numbers are truly staggering. They include 150 grandchildren and 100 combined great and great-great-grandchildren. Pat confirmed the count is “still adding.”
Building a Legacy of Education and Success
Margie’s true pride is not just in numbers. It is in her family’s collective achievement. She raised her children with relentless dedication. Pat highlighted their mother’s powerful impact. “She did the best, the very best that she could,” Pat said proudly.
That effort yielded phenomenal results. “We all got college educations,” Pat stated. “We all are home-owners, business-owners.” The success now spans the generations. One nephew is soon to be a doctor. Another is in firefighter training. One remarkable descendant just passed the bar exam. “So we are on fire,” Pat declared joyfully.
An Emotional Family Reunion on Live TV
The television segment provided a stunning surprise. Host Jennifer Hudson knew a secret. Some grandchildren had never met Margie in person. Hudson asked if she could provide a surprise. She then introduced a grandchild from Texas.
Margie was visibly overcome with emotion. She immediately bent down to embrace them. The moment was powerfully moving for everyone. “All the way from Texas!” Margie exclaimed. Her final words framed her entire philosophy. “Thank you. We’re going to pass this love on,” she said. This is the legacy she has built.
