Reginae Carter, the daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, has opened up about missing a Disney Channel opportunity. The 27-year-old shared her story on her podcast Heir Time, explaining how a controversial lyric from Young Money impacted her career.
Carter revealed the missed chance to become a Disney darling while speaking with Fat Joe’s daughter, Azzy Milan. She explained that the lyric referenced former Disney star Miley Cyrus and ultimately ended her potential deal with the company.
Young Money Lyric About Miley Cyrus Affected Reginae’s Disney Opportunity
In 2009, Reginae referenced her uncle, Mack Maine, president of Young Money Entertainment, in her verse on the song Every Girl. Maine mentioned the then-17-year-old Hannah Montana star, which Disney reportedly found inappropriate.
“Because of who my dad is, they’re going to put that on me,” Reginae said on the podcast. She added, “Even with the Disney Channel, my uncle had a song that said, ‘In about three years, holler at me Miley Cyrus.’”
Although it was not Reginae’s own lyric, the reference affected her chances. She told listeners, “I wanted to do something for Disney, [and] couldn’t because my uncle said [the lyric.]”
Family Ties Impact Career Opportunities
Reginae emphasized that being Lil Wayne’s daughter often comes with career challenges. Comments or actions by her father or his team can reflect on her. In this case, a single lyric stifled her Disney ambitions.
She explained that Disney maintains strict standards and that any perceived impropriety can end opportunities. “Disney don’t play,” Reginae said, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
Mack Maine’s History With Miley Cyrus Draws Criticism
The lyric was part of a pattern in which Mack Maine expressed inappropriate interest in Miley Cyrus while she was underage. In 2009, he tweeted, “Happy bdayyyyyyyy 2 my babygirl Miley Cyrus… 17yrs old…1 more yr…luv.”
Over the years, Maine continued using terms like “pyt” and “baby girl” to describe Cyrus, prompting public criticism. These past actions have resurfaced as part of Reginae’s explanation for the lost Disney opportunity.

By sharing her experiences, she hopes to shed light on how family connections can affect career paths. The story also underscores the importance of separating her own identity from the actions of relatives.
