At first, she doubted herself. “I was like, no one’s gonna take me seriously. I’ve never studied biology,” Brown recalled. Yet, her curiosity and work ethic paid off. After her first company went public, she received a strong financial return that allowed her to launch new ventures. Though one of those ventures eventually closed, her growing reputation in Michigan’s startup scene opened the door to CircNova.
The Science Behind CircNova’s Circular RNA Breakthrough
CircNova is revolutionizing how scientists understand and use RNA in medicine. Circular RNA, unlike linear RNA, forms a continuous loop. This design makes it more stable, longer-lasting, and more effective in targeting disease cells. Brown explains, “Compared to linear RNA, which can degrade at both ends, circular RNA is a continuous loop. It allows us to be more efficacious and precise in binding to the disease target.”

By using circular RNA, CircNova aims to make therapies more durable and efficient, potentially reaching diseases that were once thought impossible to treat.
