A New Academy for Black Parents Raising Talented Children

Janice Robinson-Celeste, a former educator turned entrepreneur, has launched the Black Parenting Academy, a groundbreaking resource designed specifically for Black families raising talented children in sports, arts, and entertainment. Her mission is clear: to give parents tools, strategies, and support to help their children shine without losing balance at home.

With more Black child influencers, athletes, and young entertainers rising to fame, parents face unique pressures. Robinson-Celeste created the academy to fill a critical gap, offering practical advice and expert-led forums that speak directly to these challenges.

Raising a Star Without Losing Your Mind

The academy’s flagship program, Raising A Star (Without Losing Your Mind), is now available on-demand. This forum brings together an inspiring lineup of voices, including global supermodel Sessilee Lopez, performing arts principals, top talent agents, and parents of well-known child influencers.

Speakers pulled back the curtain on what it really takes to nurture Black child talent. They addressed topics rarely discussed openly, from handling jealousy and entitlement to choosing the right schools and helping children stay grounded in the spotlight.

Lessons From Experience and Real Stories

Robinson-Celeste built the academy from her personal journey guiding her daughter, Sessilee Lopez, into professional modeling at just 12 years old. That journey brought both incredible opportunities and tough lessons.

“This conversation was born from my own lived experience,” Robinson-Celeste explained. “I knew I had to create this forum to help fellow parents avoid the mistakes I made, see around corners, and feel empowered to support their talented children without sacrificing their childhood, joy, or future.”

Empowering Black Families With Knowledge and Community

Beyond spotlight challenges, the Black Parenting Academy highlights the powerful role Black mothers play in shaping future leaders. Experts also stress the importance of self-advocacy, resilience, and family support for kids who want to step back or even quit.

The academy ensures that parents are not alone. Its forums and meetups provide a supportive space for questions, guidance, and strategies rooted in lived Black experiences.

Free Membership and Upcoming Events for Parents

In honor of the back-to-school season, the Black Parenting Academy is offering free membership through September 30, 2025. Members gain access to on-demand resources, expert Q&A sessions, discounts on masterclasses, and future meetups.

Upcoming virtual events include:

  • Homework Hacks Made Easy (September 2025)
  • Raising Smart & Safe Black Kids in the Age of AI (October 2025)
  • Help My Son! Simple Strategies to Help Black Boys Read and Love School (November 2025)
  • Financial Survival Skills for Parents (December 2025)

“As Black parents, we deserve resources that speak directly to our experiences and our children’s unique journeys,” Robinson-Celeste said. “That’s why we’re inviting every parent to join for free right now—so they can feel seen, supported, and fully prepared to help their children rise.”
