New memoir revisits Harris’s historic 2024 presidential run
Kamala Harris will release her new book 107 Days on September 23. The memoir offers a personal and behind-the-scenes look at her 2024 campaign for president. Harris became the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden unexpectedly dropped out of the race.
The book is published by Simon & Schuster. It reflects on the intense 107 days Harris spent as a presidential candidate—the shortest run in modern U.S. history.
Harris opens up about a “deeply personal” journey
In a video shared on July 31, Harris called her campaign “intense, high-stakes, and deeply personal.” She said the experience made a lasting impact. “Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days,” she explained. “I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what it will take to move forward.”
Although she lost the general election, Harris made history. She was the first woman of color to run for president on a major party ticket.
A campaign shaped by urgency and purpose
According to Harris, the 107 days were packed with energy and commitment. “Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for President of the United States,” she said. “107 days traveling the country, fighting for our future.”
She continued, “In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me: sometimes, the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope, and I remain clear-eyed.”
Publisher praises Harris’s powerful storytelling
Simon & Schuster’s CEO, Jonathan Karp, called the memoir “an eyewitness contribution to history.” He added that 107 Days “captures the drama of running for president better than just about anything I’ve read.”
He also called Harris “an American leader” and said the book is one of the best political nonfiction titles the company has ever published.
What’s next for Kamala Harris?
While Harris confirmed she won’t run for governor of California in 2026, rumors of a 2028 presidential bid are growing. She is set to begin a national book tour this fall. Her first interview since the election will take place on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
107 Days follows Harris’s 2019 memoir The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, which traced her rise from prosecutor to senator and vice president.
