The fight between Kandi Burruss’ restaurant group and their landlord just took another dramatic turn. A judge has denied an emergency request filed by Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker’s company in a $200,000 legal battle over their Atlanta steakhouse.
Judge Denies Urgent Request in Landlord Dispute
Burruss and Tucker’s company, Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group, had filed an emergency motion asking the court to stop what they call harassment from their landlord, Montego Pacific. The request was linked to a letter Montego sent on June 13, demanding $190,450 in rent and asking the restaurant to reopen within five days.
The letter was not part of the official lawsuit, which raised concerns for Burruss’ legal team. They believed the landlord was using outside pressure to gain an unfair advantage. However, the court disagreed. The emergency motion was denied, with Montego’s lawyer calling it “without merit.”
Blaze Steakhouse Hit With Back Rent and Repair Costs
The lawsuit, first filed in March 2025, accuses the Burruss Tucker group of failing to maintain the Blaze Steakhouse building properly. Montego claims they spent $56,000 on repairs that the tenants were supposed to handle under the lease.
Along with the repairs, the landlord says the restaurant group owes $154,000 in unpaid rent. Combined, the total claim comes close to $210,000. Blaze Steakhouse, which opened in 2020, has been a high-profile business venture for Burruss and Tucker.
Kandi Says Her Name Was Used for Publicity
When the suit was first filed, Kandi Burruss was shocked to see her name listed as a defendant. She told media outlets that the issue was mainly between the landlord and the company — not her personally.
“It was just a disagreement between us and the landlord,” she said. “They had to drop my name off. I think they just put my name on there anyway so that they could get publicity for the lawsuit.”
She also clarified that the disagreement was mostly about who should pay for the repairs, not an intentional failure to meet terms.
Landlord Refuses Partial Payments
Since the motion was denied, Montego Pacific has refused to accept any partial payments from the Burruss Tucker group. The landlord insists that the restaurant must pay the full amount, including rent, repair costs, and interest, before any agreement can move forward.
This means Blaze Steakhouse will likely stay closed for now, as the legal battle continues.
