Taylor Rooks Foundation Uplifts Girls and Educators

Award-winning journalist Taylor Rooks has launched the Taylor Rooks Foundation (TRF) to help underrepresented communities. Announced on July 11, the foundation focuses on funding, community outreach, and creating life-changing opportunities.

Backed by the Players Philanthropy Fund Inc., TRF aims to give people what they often lack—access. Rooks believes that equity starts with access to care, confidence, and opportunity. “A single act of support can rewrite someone’s story,” she said in a statement. That mission is now being carried out in real-time.

First Donation Goes to Girls Club in New York City

Before the public launch, TRF made its first major impact by supporting the Lower East Side Girls Club in New York City. Rooks visited the space in person, playing jump rope and hula hoop with the girls.

The donation will fund free programs for female-identified and gender-expansive youth and their families. A representative from the club said TRF’s help is arriving at a “critical moment,” when support for these communities is more important than ever.

TRF’s focus on joy, power, and possibility closely aligns with the club’s mission. With this first step, Rooks is showing that her foundation is not just about donations—it’s about meaningful connection.

TRF Turns to Help Teachers With Supplies

Next on the TRF agenda is helping educators. The foundation is supporting Teachers’ Supplies for Success, a nonprofit that provides classroom tools to teachers in need.

Many American teachers spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket to buy basic supplies. Some even spend more than $750 each year. TRF hopes to ease that burden so teachers can focus on their students—not their wallets.

Rooks shared on Instagram that this is just the beginning. “The steps ahead are just as important as our first,” she wrote. TRF plans to keep finding new ways to give back.

Building a Long-Term Vision for Equity

TRF is not a one-time campaign. It is part of Rooks’ bigger vision to support communities that are often forgotten. Her foundation proves that equity isn’t just about policy—it’s about real people doing real work.

With heart, focus, and action, Rooks is turning her platform into power for others. By lifting up girls and teachers, TRF is already creating ripple effects that could last for generations.
