Chaka Khan Steps Into a Special Role at Granddaughter’s Wedding

Chaka Khan gave fans a touching surprise when she walked as the flower girl at her granddaughter’s wedding. The music legend joined the ceremony wearing a white gown with golden designs, walking proudly beside a young ring bearer.

The moment was shared through a heartfelt Instagram post. It celebrated the joy of seeing the Queen of Funk honor her family in such a sweet and personal way. “A beautiful family moment worth celebrating,” the caption read.

A Bond That Goes Beyond Music

The bride, Daija Jade Holland, shares a deep bond with her grandmother. Chaka Khan took full custody of Daija when she was just nine years old. Their connection has always been strong. They even share the same birthday, which makes their story even more meaningful.

Khan has spoken openly about raising her granddaughter. She called the experience a blessing and a second chance at motherhood. “Becoming a mother again later in life was meant to be,” she once said in an interview.

A Journey of Growth and Redemption

Chaka Khan became a mom as a teenager and struggled with addiction during her early career. She has since overcome those battles and used those lessons to grow. Raising Daija gave her an opportunity to be more present and loving.

“There’s a lot of things I missed as a young mom,” she admitted. “I’m better at it now.” Her story reminds many that growth never stops, no matter your age.

Still Touring Strong Across the Country

Even while taking on grandma duties, Khan continues to perform. She is currently touring the United States as part of “The Queens: 4 Legends 1 Stage.” The tour includes other music greats like Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills.

Her schedule is packed for the rest of 2025, with shows in cities like Atlanta, Memphis, and Detroit. Fans can find tickets on her website, Live Nation, or Ticketmaster.
