Flau’jae Johnson helps Team USA go undefeated

Flau’jae Johnson of Louisiana State University has just added another win to her name. She helped Team USA go undefeated and take home the gold medal at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile. The national team beat Brazil 92–84 in the final on July 6.

Johnson played in all seven games and averaged 4.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and one assist. Though not always on the court, she made every minute count. After the final, the LSU junior posted,
“Wow, something amazing I can add to my resume: 1X GOLD MEDALIST!” She thanked her teammates, coaches, and the selection committee for believing in her.

A standout moment against the Dominican Republic

Johnson’s biggest game of the tournament came on July 4. She scored 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and gave out two assists in a strong win against the Dominican Republic. That performance made her one of only nine Team USA players in AmeriCup history to score 20 or more points in a single game.

Even though she didn’t play the most minutes, her impact was clear. She showed skill, heart, and determination in every game. Johnson’s attitude and work ethic helped the U.S. finish with a perfect 7–0 record.

A chance at another LSU championship run

Now that the AmeriCup is behind her, Johnson is focused on LSU. Earlier this year, she confirmed she’s staying with the team for another season. After winning the 2023 NCAA title with stars like Angel Reese, Johnson is ready to take the lead.

She said,
“I feel like that national championship I have—yeah, I was a big factor in it—but there were bigger factors. I want my own one, you know what I’m saying? Where I lead the team.”
Her goal is to return to the top, but this time as the face of the team.

A gold medal, new goals, and a growing legacy

Johnson’s gold medal adds to a growing list of wins, both on and off the court. From college titles to global victories, she keeps rising. Her performance at the AmeriCup proves she belongs on the international stage.

With another year ahead at LSU and big dreams in sight, Johnson is focused, fearless, and far from done. Whether it’s scoring for Team USA or leading her college team, Flau’jae Johnson is building a powerful legacy—one basket at a time.
