A’ja Wilson Becomes the Fastest to Hit 5,000 Points in WNBA History
A’ja Wilson just made WNBA history. She is now the fastest player ever to score 5,000 career points. The Las Vegas Aces star reached this milestone in only 238 games, beating the previous record holders by several games.
She reached the mark during a big win over the Connecticut Sun. The Aces won 85–59, and Wilson added 22 points to her total. This pushed her career points to 5,015. The game was more than just a win—it was a moment for the record books.
Record-Breaking Stats Show Wilson’s All-Around Greatness
Scoring 5,000 points is only part of Wilson’s story. She also became the first player to reach 5,000 points, 2,000 rebounds, 500 assists, 400 blocks, and 200 steals faster than anyone else. That’s a rare level of all-around dominance.
Her full-game performance was just as impressive. Along with her 22 points, she recorded eight rebounds, four assists, four steals, and three blocks. This kind of stat line shows how much she impacts every part of the game.
A’ja Wilson’s Rise From Rookie to Superstar
Wilson has played with the Aces since 2018, after being drafted No. 1 overall from the University of South Carolina. She won Rookie of the Year her first season and has claimed MVP titles in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
“One of the reasons they drafted me was to score the ball in many, many different ways,” Wilson said after the game. “To be the quickest, the fastest [to 5,000], it’s a blessing.”
She joins the ranks of WNBA greats like Diana Taurasi, who holds the all-time scoring record. But Wilson’s pace and balance of skills set her apart in a way that points alone cannot explain.
Wilson’s Scoring Streak Builds Her Legacy
Wilson has scored in double figures for 62 straight regular-season games. That streak is now the seventh longest in league history. She’s closing in on Arike Ogunbowale’s sixth-place record of 65.
Her consistency shows she’s not just talented—she’s dependable. And with the Aces now at a 7–7 record, Wilson continues to be the heartbeat of the team on both ends of the court.
