NBC Brings Back NBA With New Faces and Big Plans
NBC Sports is making a strong return to NBA coverage with a fresh team. Maria Taylor will lead the studio coverage alongside basketball stars Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter. This team-up begins with the 2025–26 NBA season.
The games will air every Sunday and Tuesday night. NBC’s Sunday Night Basketball will run at 8 p.m. on NBC and Peacock. Tuesday nights will feature a doubleheader, giving fans even more basketball to enjoy during the week.
Maria Taylor Will Lead the Studio Team
Maria Taylor is no stranger to sports fans. She already hosts NBC’s “Football Night in America” and has helped cover the Olympics. Now, she’s stepping into a major role as the face of NBC’s NBA broadcasts.
“This is a full-circle moment,” said Taylor. “I’m excited to return to basketball and help share the stories of the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the NBA Playoffs, and the WNBA Finals.”
Taylor is also set to cover select WNBA games starting in 2026.
NBA Legends Join the Studio Team
Joining Taylor are two former NBA greats—Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter. Both players bring years of experience and star power to the team. NBC hopes their chemistry with Taylor will bring new energy to primetime basketball coverage.
NBC Sports Executive Producer Sam Flood said, “Maria has proven she can lead. Now, she brings that strength and energy to this new team. We can’t wait to see them grow together.”
Taylor’s Career Has Come Full Circle
Before joining NBC in 2021, Taylor worked at ESPN as a host on “NBA Countdown.” Her move to NBC came after a public controversy involving a colleague’s comments on race and hiring.
Taylor has continued to shine in her roles at NBC. Now, she is taking the lead on a major project with a long-term future. NBC and the NBA signed an 11-year agreement in July 2024, making this partnership one to watch.
Fans Can Expect Big Things From the New NBA Team
NBC Sports is not only bringing back NBA games, but also adding fresh ideas. Fans can look forward to a one-hour pregame show before each game. Taylor, Anthony, and Carter will be the faces guiding viewers through each night of basketball action.
This move is about more than just sports. It is a powerful moment for representation, leadership, and the future of Black women in media. Maria Taylor is not just covering the game—she’s helping shape how the game is seen.
