A new scholarship fund is creating big opportunities for business students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Social Change Fund United has announced it will award $40,000 in scholarships to support students chasing dreams in finance and entrepreneurship.

Eight students will each receive $5,000 to help with school expenses and business ambitions. The winners will be announced on July 1, 2025.

Supporting the Next Generation of Black Entrepreneurs

The Social Change Fund United was launched in 2020 with a clear mission — to help underrepresented communities and tackle social and racial inequality. Since its start, the fund has worked to uplift young people who want to build businesses that also bring about positive change.

The $40,000 scholarship is part of this ongoing mission. It focuses on business students from HBCUs who are passionate about using their education to give back to their communities.

The fund’s founders believe that investing in young business minds will help shape a future where equity and opportunity are within reach for everyone.

A Movement Born From a Moment

The idea for the Social Change Fund came during a powerful time in history. As the world protested against racial injustice in 2020, the fund’s founders knew they had to act.

“It was a real moment,” one founder shared with Fast Company. “We were watching society and our country, and it’s right in front of our faces. We just talked, came together, and founded the Social Change Fund United.”

Since then, the fund has committed to supporting projects that promote equity, criminal justice reform, and education.

More Than Just a Scholarship

This scholarship isn’t just about money. It’s about creating lasting opportunities for students to build businesses that lift up their communities.

The Social Change Fund United has given over $182,000 in grant funding to programs across 24 U.S. cities. Alongside scholarships, it also provides resources and mentorship to help young entrepreneurs thrive.

The fund continues to grow, working with a council of respected names in sports and media, including WNBA star Candace Parker. Together, they are building new paths for young leaders to make a difference.
