Natasha Davis Builds Wealth for Women in Real Estate
Natasha Davis is helping women, especially Black women, grow wealth through real estate. She founded The BLOC, a 100% female-owned company focused on construction, investment, and training. The BLOC also includes a nonprofit foundation to support women’s education and workforce development.
A 2022 Zillow study shows women have access to 18% less of the real estate market than men due to the wage gap. The gap is even bigger for Black women. Davis works hard to close this gap by teaching women how to invest in and build real estate.
From Nurse to Real Estate Leader
Davis started her career as a nurse but dreamed of real estate investing. She first got her real estate license but quickly learned that just being a realtor was not enough to succeed.
She faced challenges with contractors, so she used her nursing skills in product management to oversee her projects directly. Davis even took carpentry classes and shared her completed projects on social media, where her work caught attention and went viral.
The Birth of The BLOC and Its Mission
Seeing the demand for real estate education among women, Davis launched The BLOC, a full construction and investment firm run entirely by women. She also founded a nonprofit in 2012 to mentor girls and later realized women needed support too.
“I created a nonprofit organization to mentor girls in 2012. Through that process, I found that women also needed mentorship through the process,” Davis said. “As I continued to build my own real estate portfolio, I had a lot of women reaching out, asking how they could get more involved.”
Training Women to Succeed in Real Estate
The BLOC offers a curriculum-based program that teaches women real estate investing and construction skills. Davis and her co-founders have designed the program to provide real tools and support, avoiding empty promises that some other programs offer.
Davis explained, “I heard so many horror stories about women being a part of other educational platforms and programs where they had spent a lot of money, and when they came out on the other side, they could not find success in real estate investing. I did not want that narrative associated with who I was and what I did.”
Real Impact and Growing Success
So far, The BLOC has graduated 80 women who became real estate investors. The nonprofit has helped about 120 women mainly through workforce development efforts. Many participants have started cashing checks from their investments.
The company is based in New Jersey but plans to expand its workshops and programs to other cities. On June 22, The BLOC will host ElevateHER, a special event focused on wealth building and leadership for women. The event will include panels, breakout sessions, and networking.
