Guzangs, a platform dedicated to amplifying African designers and creatives, hosted a remarkable event at The Crosby Hotel in lower Manhattan on March 31, 2025. The HERitage event brought together African women in fashion, beauty, and beyond, creating a space for them to celebrate their achievements and share their unique journeys. The event marked an important step as founder Idelle Taye expands her platform in the United States.

African Innovators Gather to Celebrate Heritage and Success

The HERitage networking event was an extraordinary evening that showcased the success of African women in creative industries. Prominent figures such as actress Arsema Thomas, designer Tia Adeola, and entrepreneur Diarrha Ndiaye-Mbayer graced the event with their presence. The event featured insightful panel discussions, including one titled “HERitage,” where Thomas and Adeola shared their experiences in Hollywood and the fashion industry.

As the evening unfolded, the room buzzed with conversations about resilience, creative passion, and the challenges faced by African women striving to carve out their space in competitive fields. The elegant setting, complemented by champagne from Armand de Brignac and cocktails by Woodford Reserve, created the perfect atmosphere for networking and bonding.

Idelle Taye Expands Guzangs’ Reach in the U.S.

Guzangs, which already has a strong following globally, is quickly making a name for itself in the U.S. With her commitment to highlighting African innovators, Taye is using this event to further her platform’s reach and provide opportunities for African women to connect and grow together. The HERitage event was a clear testament to her vision of empowering women of African descent to share their experiences and build lasting relationships.

The event was not only a celebration of success but also a space where attendees could engage in meaningful discussions about the pressures and triumphs of African women pursuing careers outside the traditional expectations placed upon them. These conversations left attendees feeling inspired and connected to a greater community of like-minded women.

Insights from Inspirational Panelists

One of the key highlights of the HERitage event was the series of panels featuring influential African women. Arsema Thomas, known for her breakout role in Bridgerton, discussed her journey from academia to acting and how her experiences abroad shaped her career. “I didn’t know where I was going until I realized acting was my path,” Thomas shared during her conversation with content creator Eni Popoola. Their discussion resonated deeply with attendees, especially the pressures African women face when choosing non-traditional career paths.

Tia Adeola’s panel was equally impactful, as the designer opened up about creating a legacy in the fashion industry. Together with Ndiaye-Mbaye and music executive Tolu Ayeni, Adeola reflected on the importance of staying true to one’s African heritage while navigating the global stage. These candid conversations underscored the event’s theme of celebrating African heritage while embracing modern innovation.

A Community of African Women Supporting Each Other

The HERitage event not only celebrated individual successes but also emphasized the power of community. Fashion editor Anire Ikomi, stylist Peju Famojure, and models like Irene Ojo-Felix were among the attendees, all contributing to the vibrant network of African creatives in the room. The event gave women the chance to share their stories and learn from each other, fostering a sense of solidarity and empowerment.

As Guzangs continues to grow, the platform’s commitment to supporting African women in fashion and beauty remains at the forefront of its mission. By creating spaces for meaningful conversations and partnerships, Taye is paving the way for even more impactful events in the future.
