Teal Health is breaking barriers in women’s healthcare with the launch of its first at-home cervical cancer screening kit, the Teal Wand™. Backed by a $10 million funding boost, the company is poised to redefine how cervical cancer is detected and managed.

$10M Investment to Revolutionize Cervical Cancer Screening

Teal Health has secured $10 million in funding, with Emerson Collective and Forerunner leading the investment round. This brings the company’s total funding to $23 million. CEO Kara Egan expressed excitement about the new milestone, stating, “This investment allows us to bring Teal Health’s vision to life, getting our transformational screening solution into the hands of women. We’re here to create a new path forward, enabling women to take control of their health with confidence and ease.”

This funding will fast-track product development and bring the Teal Wand™ to market. The timing couldn’t be more crucial, as cervical cancer screening rates have declined in recent years, despite its critical role in prevention.

How the Teal Wand™ Works: A Game-Changer in Women’s Health

The Teal Wand™ is designed to make cervical cancer screening simple, private, and accessible. Upon FDA approval, users can request the kit, which includes a telehealth consultation. After receiving the kit, users can collect their own vaginal samples at home using the Wand.

The collected sample is securely sealed and sent to a Teal-approved lab for analysis. This streamlined process eliminates the discomfort and barriers associated with traditional in-clinic screenings. It’s a groundbreaking step toward empowering women to prioritize their health without unnecessary stress.

Addressing Barriers in Cervical Cancer Screening

Cervical cancer remains a significant health concern, particularly among underserved populations. The American Cancer Society highlights that prevention and early screening have significantly reduced deaths in the past. However, one in four women still avoids regular screenings due to limited access, discomfort, or other challenges.

Teal Health’s innovative approach is a direct response to these gaps. Launched in 2023, the company focuses on transforming the healthcare experience for women and people with cervixes. Nicole Johnson, a partner at Forerunner, noted, “Many healthcare experiences are not built with the end consumer as the primary customer. This feels especially true for women’s health, despite women accounting for 80% of healthcare spending.”

A Commitment to Cervical Cancer Awareness

In addition to launching the Teal Wand™, Teal Health is raising awareness during Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. For every person who pledges to undergo a screening, the company will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society.

This initiative underscores Teal Health’s mission to create meaningful change. The company is not only addressing medical challenges but also fostering a culture of awareness and proactive care.

A New Era for Women’s Health

With the Teal Wand™ on the horizon, women now have a promising alternative to traditional cervical cancer screenings. This groundbreaking innovation is expected to redefine how healthcare systems approach women’s health, offering convenience, comfort, and accessibility.

Teal Health’s bold move sets the stage for a future where no woman has to sacrifice her comfort or safety to take care of her health. The company’s journey is just beginning, but its impact is already profound.
