Tamira Chapman, a renowned entrepreneur, has launched Storehouse Voices, a new book imprint aimed at amplifying Black voices in the literary world. Partnering with The Crown Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, this initiative will spotlight Black authors, whose powerful narratives have often been overlooked by mainstream publishers.

A New Era for Black Storytelling

Storehouse Voices seeks to fill the gaps in the publishing industry by prioritizing Black authors and their stories. The imprint will focus on both fiction and nonfiction books, with a mission to promote the richness of Black storytelling. Chapman, who founded Storehouse In A Box, has long been an advocate for inclusivity and representation. By establishing Storehouse Voices, she aims to give more Black authors a platform to share their work with the world.

Chapman expressed her excitement about the imprint, emphasizing the importance of amplifying Black voices in today’s world. She stated, “In times like these, storytelling becomes a bridge—a common language connecting writers, readers, publishers, and word lovers in a shared commitment to progress and representation.”

Breaking Barriers in the Publishing World

The team behind Storehouse Voices includes highly skilled professionals, such as Porscha Burke as associate publisher, Jennifer Baker as editorial director, and Chelcee Jones as executive editor. The imprint’s editorial approach focuses on intentional acquisitions, hiring efforts, and strategic partnerships aimed at fostering an inclusive environment for both authors and readers.

David E. Talbert, one of the authors signed to the imprint, praised Chapman’s approach, noting, “Tamira Chapman’s passion for storytelling, and her innovation in promotion and marketing, made Storehouse Voices the perfect and only home for my return to publishing.”

Expanding Opportunities for Black Authors

In addition to publishing books, Storehouse Voices offers a wealth of support to up-and-coming Black authors. The imprint runs programs like virtual workshops and networking sessions, allowing emerging voices to connect with literary agents and demystify the publishing process. This effort builds on the success of Chapman’s earlier initiative, Women & Words, which empowered women authors to navigate the industry.

With an established track record of disrupting the publishing world, Chapman continues to break traditional molds, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and valued. Her company has become a trailblazer in promoting storytelling that reflects the experiences of underserved communities.

Legacy and Impact

Chapman’s efforts with Storehouse Voices are poised to leave a lasting impact on the literary world. By providing Black authors with the resources and platforms they deserve, the imprint is building a legacy that will resonate for generations. As more authors gain visibility, the diversity of stories and perspectives in literature will continue to grow, enriching the literary world as a whole.

Chapman’s success is not only marked by the launch of Storehouse Voices, but by her recognition in 2022 as one of the fastest-growing woman-led enterprises globally. With a reputation for innovation and advocacy, she continues to push for change in every project she undertakes.
