Wildfires raging across Los Angeles County have left thousands displaced and in need of urgent assistance. To aid victims and first responders, companies and organizations have stepped in with free rides, temporary housing, and vital services.

Free Transportation for Evacuees

Reaching safety is a challenge during emergencies, but transportation companies are stepping up to help. Uber is offering evacuees a $40 credit for trips to active shelters using the code WILDFIRE25. Lyft has announced $25 vouchers for up to 500 residents, valid for two rides. The offer ends on January 15, so evacuees should act quickly to secure this support.

“Every effort counts in helping residents reach safety,” said a Lyft representative. These transportation options provide critical help as evacuation routes remain crowded with traffic and limited access.

Temporary Housing and Hotel Discounts

Finding a safe place to stay can be overwhelming for those displaced. Airbnb has partnered with 211 LA to provide free temporary housing for wildfire victims. Hotels like Queen Mary in Long Beach are offering rooms at discounted rates, starting at $189. This deal includes a breakfast buffet and waived pet fees, helping families with pets find refuge.

In the scenic Big Bear area, vacation homes and hotels are opening their doors to evacuees, offering them a peaceful space to recover. Visit Anaheim’s official site is also listing special hotel deals for those affected by the fires.

Shelters Open Their Doors

Community shelters are providing immediate refuge to those fleeing their homes. Locations such as Westwood Recreation Center, Pasadena Civic Auditorium, and El Camino Real Charter High School are ready to welcome evacuees. These shelters offer essential services like food, water, and basic supplies.

Volunteers at shelters are working tirelessly to support evacuees, creating a sense of community amid the devastation.

Utilities and Communication Assistance

Telecommunication companies are helping wildfire victims stay connected. AT&T is offering unlimited data, calls, and texts in wildfire zones through February 6. Similarly, Verizon has waived all charges for data, calls, and texts in the hardest-hit areas.

Both companies have set up free Wi-Fi and charging stations at evacuation sites, ensuring that victims can stay in touch with loved ones and access emergency updates.

Free Health and Wellness Support

Evacuees and first responders can take advantage of free gym access, showers, and Wi-Fi at Planet Fitness and Crunch Gym locations across Los Angeles. For personal care, Ecco Hair Studio in Pasadena is offering complimentary hair washes to those impacted.

Fitness and wellness centers emphasize that small comforts like a hot shower or a place to recharge phones can make a huge difference during times of crisis.

Help for Pets and Animals

Pets are often victims of wildfires too. Bath N’ Buns Mobile Pet Grooming is providing free grooming services for dogs and cats affected by the fires. Vetster is offering free telehealth appointments for up to 500 pets through January 23, helping owners ensure their animals remain healthy.

Pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of these services to keep their furry companions safe and cared for.

Food and Cultural Support

Restaurants across Los Angeles are providing free meals to first responders and evacuees. Infatuation LA has compiled a list of locations offering these meals, ensuring no one goes hungry.

For families with children, cultural institutions like Discovery Cube Los Angeles and Petersen Automotive Museum are offering free admission on selected days. These activities provide a welcome distraction and comfort for families during this challenging time.

Community Support in Times of Crisis

The devastation caused by wildfires is immense, but the outpouring of support from companies, organizations, and volunteers proves the strength of the community. Accessing these resources can help victims and their families navigate this difficult period and begin their recovery journey.
