A New Chapter for Maddie B’s Popcorn in Downtown Phoenix
Bianca Dodd and her husband, Mike, have successfully opened their Black-owned popcorn business, Maddie B’s Chicago Style Gourmet Popcorn, in downtown Phoenix. The grand opening took place in September and marked a proud milestone for the couple, their business, and the local community. The store, located at ACRES Marketplace, has quickly become a standout addition to the vibrant Roosevelt Row district.
The opening was made possible with support from Archwood, a local nonprofit organization focused on fostering economic growth in underserved communities. Through their assistance, the Dodds were able to secure a location and move their dream forward.
A Partnership that Powers Progress
The collaboration between Maddie B’s and Archwood began in 2022 when the business participated in the Buy Black Marketplace, an event hosted by Archwood Exchange. This partnership has proven to be crucial for the Dodds as they grew their business and found the resources necessary to take it to the next level. According to Ali Nervis, Executive Director of Archwood, “This is the result of tireless efforts to support disadvantaged entrepreneurs and create pathways to success.”
Mike Dodd expressed his gratitude, stating, “We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from Archwood. The opportunities and resources provided have been invaluable.” This support has been essential in making their dream of a downtown Phoenix location come true.
