WNBA superstar Napheesa Collier is making headlines not just for her on-court achievements but for her dedication to empowering women. As a mother, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and Minnesota Lynx player, Collier recently partnered with Opill to promote accessible reproductive health options and education.
Opill, the first over-the-counter daily birth control pill approved by the FDA, represents a breakthrough in women’s health. Collier’s partnership highlights the importance of making contraception both accessible and affordable.
Breaking Barriers with Opill: A Step Forward in Women’s Health
The partnership between Napheesa Collier and Opill brings much-needed attention to the importance of reproductive health. With Opill, women no longer need a doctor’s prescription, removing a significant barrier to contraception.
Collier shared her thoughts, saying, “I want people to know that if they wish to have birth control, there’s a great option in Opill. It’s affordable, it’s accessible. And I think in today’s climate, that’s crucial.”
The collaboration also builds on Opill’s ongoing partnership with the WNBA. Leila Bahbah, Perrigo U.S. Women’s Health Brand Lead, emphasized, “WNBA players are passionate about using their platform to champion causes they believe in. Napheesa exudes that passion, and together we plan to educate and empower people to take charge of their reproductive health.”
Changing Conversations on Reproductive Health
Collier is committed to breaking the stigma surrounding discussions about reproductive health. She plans to visit colleges during the WNBA off-season to speak directly with students about reproductive freedoms.
“Having conversations around birth control and reproductive rights shouldn’t be embarrassing,” Collier said. “My mom was a nurse, so this was a normal topic in my home. I want to bring that openness to others.”
Her advocacy comes at a critical time when many women feel their reproductive rights are under threat. As a mother, Collier stresses the importance of creating a future where her daughter, Mila, and others can openly discuss and access healthcare options without fear or shame.
Empowering Women Through Education
For Collier, education is key to achieving her mission. She believes that knowledge about reproductive rights and options leads to a healthier and safer society.
“It hurts our society when we don’t talk openly about these topics,” she explained. “Education helps women learn about their rights and bodies, creating positive change.”
Through her work with Opill, Collier hopes to inspire other women to take control of their reproductive health and feel empowered to make informed decisions.
