Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has taken another step in empowering women and championing inclusivity. She has officially invested in Highbrow Hippie, a Black-owned hair care and wellness brand co-founded by her trusted hair colorist, Kadi Lee, and entrepreneur Myka Harris.

This collaboration highlights Markle’s ongoing efforts to support female entrepreneurs and amplify Black-owned businesses.

Highbrow Hippie: A Brand Rooted in Wellness

Highbrow Hippie began in 2012 as a lifestyle blog. Over the years, it evolved into a brand blending beauty and wellness. The company recently launched a product line, including a scalp serum and a hair supplement. These products target common hair concerns such as thinning and hormonal changes, focusing on solutions from the inside out.

The science-backed formulas prioritize holistic hair health, addressing root causes instead of just symptoms. Highbrow Hippie’s approach has resonated with women seeking more than traditional haircare—emphasizing wellness as part of their journey to healthier hair.

A Celebratory Launch in Venice

The partnership was celebrated at a launch party on November 14, 2024, in Venice, California. Held at the trendy Gjelina restaurant, the event was attended by beauty insiders and influential figures in wellness.

Markle presented Kadi Lee with a bouquet of roses from her Montecito garden. This thoughtful gesture symbolized their friendship and the Duchess’s personal commitment to the brand’s mission.

“I am so proud to invest in [Kadi] as a friend and as a female founder,” Markle told InStyle. “Kadi has a mastery of hair health, and her Highbrow Hippie collection is a perfect reflection of that.”

Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

This investment is not just about promoting a product line. It’s about amplifying a Black woman-owned business and creating space for female-driven success stories.

Highbrow Hippie represents more than beauty—it’s a vision for wellness and empowerment. Meghan’s involvement showcases the power of women investing in each other and advancing representation in industries where it is often lacking.

Markle has consistently supported women entrepreneurs through her business ventures. She has previously backed the sustainably sourced handbag brand Cesta Collective and is working on her own lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

The Vision Behind Highbrow Hippie

Kadi Lee and Myka Harris, the co-founders, are no strangers to the beauty and wellness world. Lee, with over 25 years of experience, has styled Hollywood stars and built a reputation for her expertise in hair health. Together, the duo has created a brand that redefines haircare as an essential part of overall wellness.

Their products offer solutions for issues like postpartum shedding and stress-related hair loss, with promises of fuller, healthier hair in just three months. Highbrow Hippie’s mission resonates deeply with women seeking a holistic approach to beauty.

Transformative Impact

Markle’s investment in Highbrow Hippie reflects her broader vision of using her platform to create meaningful impact. Supporting female-led ventures, particularly Black-owned businesses, is part of her larger mission to inspire and empower women globally.

“When women support women, the results are transformative,” Meghan Markle’s actions seem to say. Her partnership with Highbrow Hippie is yet another example of how investing in women can lead to groundbreaking change in beauty, wellness, and beyond.
