For three long years, she battled the effects of the illness. “I was trying to figure things out with my life, in terms of my post-divorce and battling an illness,” Wright shared. “It caused me to make some adjustments in life, and immediately after that, I was divorced.”
The loss of her mother and the challenges she faced made Wright realize the importance of self-love and confidence. She wanted to create a brand that promotes body inclusivity and self-care. “I knew I wanted to create a brand that offers luxury products and a luxury experience,” she explained. Wright’s vision became a reality with Delisa Rose, which aims to uplift women and help them embrace their beauty.
A Unique Approach to Lingerie Design
Wright’s background as an aerospace engineer greatly influences her lingerie designs. Her technical skills help her create innovative and comfortable pieces. Delisa Rose has become a pioneer as one of the first Black-owned lingerie brands to showcase its work at major events like the MAGIC Trade Show and New York Fashion Week. “We constructed the boob area because that’s the hardest part to make,” she said.
This focus on quality and fit is evident in her latest collection, the Fantasy Collection, debuting at Paris Fashion Week. The collection features beautiful soft-tone colors and intricate details, drawing inspiration from pop culture. “We are going to be using a lot of embroidery lace,” Wright noted, excited about the dreamlike elements in her designs.
Building Confidence and Community
Wright’s mission goes beyond just fashion; she wants to inspire confidence in women. Her upcoming campaign, “Sexy Has No Size,” is aimed at sharing real-life stories from women of all shapes and sizes. “It’s not about the size of their shape but their problems,” she emphasized. This campaign is deeply personal to Wright, reflecting her journey of healing and self-acceptance.
Moreover, she aims to expand her brand’s presence through pop-up events and community outreach. “I want to push more into 2025 with pop-ups and spreading awareness,” she shared, looking forward to connecting with women who have faced similar struggles.
