Latunya Wright’s journey from federal prison to founding Wright Financial Bank is nothing short of extraordinary. Having served over four years behind bars for her role in a multi-million-dollar ATM heist, Wright has transformed her life, emerging as a beacon of resilience and empowerment.

Triumph Against All Odds

Latunya Wright’s story is a testament to personal triumph. After enduring a traumatic childhood marked by her father’s death, abuse, and an epilepsy diagnosis, she faced immense challenges from a young age. Despite these hurdles, Wright’s determination led her to rebuild her life and career.

Wright’s first taste of entrepreneurship came early. Working at McDonald’s after school and excelling in a summer program with the Urban League laid the foundation for her future success. However, her path took a dramatic turn when she found herself on the wrong side of the law.

From Prison to Financial Pioneer

After her release, Wright did not let her past define her future. Enrolling in Forest Park Community College, she studied Business and Accounting, discovering a talent for taxes. This new skillset proved crucial as she launched a tax preparation business that quickly gained traction.

Her success in the tax industry paved the way for her entry into car auctions. As a young Black woman competing against established white business owners, Wright faced intense scrutiny but earned respect through her unwavering confidence and skill. Her ventures into real estate, despite significant obstacles, further showcased her resilience.

Building Wright Financial Bank

Wright’s most notable achievement came in 2022 when she purchased the old Great Southern Bank building in Miller. Her vision for this space is ambitious: a fully digital financial institution offering a range of services. These include real estate investing opportunities, insurance, credit repair, and tax partnership information.

Known as “The Lady That Bought the Bank,” Wright’s new venture reflects her commitment to empowering others. Her story inspires many, particularly those who face similar struggles and aspire to overcome them.

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Reflecting on her journey, Wright shares valuable advice for those seeking success. “Do not give up, follow your heart, and do not worry about what anyone thinks,” she advises. Her resilience and determination serve as a powerful reminder that personal challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth and success.

Latunya Wright’s remarkable rise from incarceration to financial leadership exemplifies the strength and perseverance required to overcome adversity. Her story is a powerful example of how resilience can lead to empowerment and transformation.
