Angel Reese Makes WNBA History

Angel Reese is making headlines with her remarkable performances in the WNBA. The Chicago Sky rookie has become the first player in league history to achieve 20 rebounds in back-to-back games. This impressive feat was accomplished in her games on August 18 and August 23, where she dominated the court with exceptional skill.

In the August 18 game against the Phoenix Mercury, Reese reached 20 rebounds. She then repeated this achievement in the game on August 23 against the Connecticut Sun, adding 13 points to her tally. Despite the Chicago Sky not winning these games, Reese’s record-breaking performances have solidified her place in WNBA history.

Breaking Boundaries and Setting New Standards

Reese’s latest achievement extends beyond just the WNBA. She has become the first rookie in both the NBA and WNBA to secure consecutive 20-rebound games since Shaquille O’Neal’s 1992-93 season. This milestone is a testament to her exceptional rebounding skills and overall impact on the game.

Additionally, Reese is now only the second player ever to record multiple games with 20 or more rebounds in a rookie season. Her accomplishment joins the ranks of Tina Charles, marking a significant moment in WNBA history.

Rising Star and Rookie of the Year Contender

Reese’s performances this season are making a strong case for her to be named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year. With a stellar season that includes leading the league in rebounds, averaging 12.6 per game, and achieving double-doubles in 15 games, Reese has proven herself as a top contender.

The rookie’s outstanding stats and consistent performance have set her apart, even though she and fellow rookie Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever were notably absent from the Team USA Olympic roster. Reese’s growing list of records and achievements continues to enhance her reputation as a dominant force in the league.
