Jazlyn Martin is making waves in both acting and music. The talented 25-year-old is set to reprise her role as Jackie in the third season of Peacock’s hit series ‘Bel-Air’, premiering August 15. At the same time, she’s gearing up to release her debut EP ‘Identity Crisis’ on August 30.
‘Bel-Air’ Season 3: Jackie’s Journey Continues
Martin’s character Jackie returns with new depth this season. “Jackie is longing for some community,” Martin explains. “She’s bringing a lot of spiciness and messiness. But at the core, she’s longing to be loved and for community.”
Fans can expect to see Jackie navigating her friendship with Will while dealing with her own desires. Martin hints at the complexity of her character’s journey, saying, “She’s battling how to be his friend while still wanting to be around his aura.”
Breaking into Music: ‘Identity Crisis’ EP
Beyond acting, Martin is stepping into the music world. Her debut EP ‘Identity Crisis’ showcases her talents as a singer and songwriter. The project, set for release on August 30, is a personal exploration of her life experiences.
“I wrote each song very intentionally about certain conflicts I’ve had in my life,” Martin shares. She aims to create music that resonates with people of all ages and backgrounds, believing that everyone experiences identity crises in different ways.
Balancing Acting and Music: A New Challenge
Juggling her roles in ‘Bel-Air’ and her budding music career has been a learning experience for Martin. She admits it’s not always easy to find balance, especially with music being new territory for her.
“I’m not going to sit here and lie and say, ‘I have it all figured out and I’m well-balanced,'” Martin confesses. However, she remains grateful for the opportunities, adding, “This is what I’ve been praying for. So I’m okay with not having a balance for this month.”
Future Aspirations: Embracing All Forms of Art
Martin’s vision for her future is bold and multifaceted. She dreams of following in the footsteps of artists like Beyoncé, hoping to combine singing, dancing, and acting in her career.
“I have big dreams and high expectations of myself,” Martin says. “But I would embrace whatever comes to me, whatever new interests, I would love to embark on that journey.”
