The Las Vegas Aces are aiming for a historic achievement. They seek to become the first WNBA team in years to win three consecutive championships. This mission is led by their star point guard and Finals MVP, Chelsea Gray.

Chelsea Gray’s Triumphant Return

Chelsea Gray made her comeback on June 19th after missing the first 12 games due to injury. Her return brought immediate results. The Aces won two blowout games as soon as she rejoined the lineup. Gray felt right at home, saying, “It’s more of a ‘we’re back at it’ feeling.”

Since her return, the Aces have been unstoppable, losing only one game and winning six straight. Her presence on the court has turned the team into championship contenders once more. Gray emphasizes her role, stating, “I am an X-factor for this team.”

The Impact of a Great Point Guard

Gray’s return has transformed the Aces. With her leading the charge, they outscore opponents by an average of 10.3 points. Known as the ‘Point Gawd,’ a nickname shared with NBA legend Chris Paul, Gray excels in game IQ, leadership, and awareness. “My IQ, knowledge of the game, and leadership are the three things that are huge for me when I’m out on the floor,” she explains.

Her leadership was key to the Aces’ first championship in 2022. In 2023, it was A’ja Wilson’s dominance that shined. Gray praises her teammate, “She is the best player in the world, no question!”

Building on Past Success

Gray’s contributions have been crucial to the Aces’ recent success. In addition to her on-court skills, she provides a calming presence for her teammates. “There’s a calmness with me being back in the lineup,” Gray notes. Her ability to distribute the ball and read defenses makes the Aces a formidable opponent.

The team looks to continue their winning ways, and with Gray’s leadership, they have a strong chance to achieve their goal. Her partnership with Wilson has created a dynamic duo that is difficult to stop.

Preparing for the Olympics

The Aces’ star players, including Gray and Wilson, will soon head to Paris for the Olympic Games. This break comes at a crucial time, giving the team a chance to rest and recharge. Gray’s focus, however, remains on the WNBA season. “My purpose and drive have shifted with the birth of my son,” she shares, highlighting her renewed motivation.

Gray has already accomplished much in her career. She’s an Olympic gold medalist, a three-time champion, and a WNBA Finals MVP. As she leads the Aces towards a potential three-peat, she continues to build her legacy.

A Legacy of Greatness

If Gray can guide the Aces to a third consecutive championship, her place in basketball history will be cemented. Her name will stand alongside legends like Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Rebekkah Brunson.

Gray’s impact on the game and her team is undeniable. She’s not just playing for titles but for a place in the annals of basketball greatness.
