A’ja Wilson, the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP, has achieved a monumental milestone in her career. She has become the Las Vegas Aces’ all-time scoring leader with 4,301 points, surpassing Sophia Young-Malcolm’s record of 4,300 career points.

This incredible feat was accomplished on July 7, 2024, during a game against the Dallas Wings.

A Historic Achievement

In a thrilling 104-85 victory over the Dallas Wings, Wilson scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. This performance not only led her team to victory but also secured her place at the top of the Aces’ scoring list. The win improved the Aces’ record to 13-7, while the Wings dropped to 5-17.

Wilson’s 28 points brought her career total to 4,301, allowing her to surpass the previous record held by Sophia Young-Malcolm. This accomplishment highlights Wilson’s consistency and dominance on the court.

Breaking Records and Setting New Standards

Wilson’s historic achievement was accompanied by other notable milestones. Her 10 rebounds in the game moved her career total to 1,854, placing her 31st on the WNBA career rebound chart. She is expected to climb higher, needing only 53 more rebounds to surpass Cheryl Ford’s 30th place.

Additionally, Wilson’s two blocked shots brought her career total to 396, inching her closer to 14th place on the WNBA list, currently held by Tina Charles with 397 blocked shots.

A Season of Excellence

This season has been exceptional for Wilson. Her 11th double-double of the season, achieved with 10 rebounds in the game, adds to her impressive stats. Wilson’s 540 points over a 20-game span is the highest by any player in WNBA history.

The Las Vegas Aces are aiming for their third consecutive title, and their offensive prowess is evident. They scored more than 100 points for the second time this season, with the 104 points against the Dallas Wings setting a season-high.

Upcoming Challenges

The Aces are preparing for a challenging road trip with three consecutive away games. They will face the Seattle Storm on July 10, followed by the Atlanta Dream on July 12, and conclude the trip against the Washington Mystics on July 14.
