Childhood Dreams Blossomed into a Remarkable Career
Sheika Daley, the renowned Lancôme Global International Artist and Celebrity Makeup Artist, recently opened up about her inspiring journey in the beauty industry.
In an exclusive interview for HelloBeautiful’s “Beneath The Brush” series, Daley reminisced about her childhood fascination with makeup, which was ignited by watching her artist mother create breathtaking paintings.
“I fell in love with makeup at a young age, watching my mom, who was an artist herself, create beautiful paintings,” Daley shared. “I was mesmerized by the colors, textures, and transformations she could achieve with her art, and that’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in makeup.”
Turning Passion into Profession
Despite her early enthusiasm for makeup, Daley initially pursued a different path. She enrolled at Florida A&M University on a full scholarship, majoring in math.
However, her true calling could not be ignored. Ultimately, she made the courageous decision to drop out and focus on her makeup career full-time.
“I decided to pursue formal training and education in makeup artistry,” Daley explained. “From there, I started building my portfolio, networking, and taking on freelance jobs until, eventually, my career took off.”
Parental Support Paved the Way
Daley’s parents played a pivotal role in her journey. Her mother, an artist herself, wholeheartedly supported Daley’s artistic endeavors from the beginning.
Although her father initially hoped she would follow a more traditional career path, he eventually embraced her passion after witnessing her dedication and blossoming success.
A Trailblazer in the Makeup Industry
Today, Sheika Daley stands as one of the most sought-after makeup artists in the industry. Her work has graced the faces of numerous celebrities, including Anok Yai, Taraji P. Henson, Zendaya, and Lupita Nyong’o.
As Lancôme’s Global International Artist, she travels the world, educating the brand’s artists on new products and sculpting the faces of brand ambassadors for shoots.
In addition to her remarkable career achievements, Daley emphasized the importance of self-care in her interview. “I understand the importance of prioritizing self-care,” she said.
“I make time for myself by scheduling regular spa days, practicing mindfulness and meditation, and indulging in hobbies and activities that bring me joy and relaxation.”
Entrepreneurial Endeavors: Elora Lane Lash Brand
Sheika Daley’s entrepreneurial spirit has also led her to launch her own lash brand, Elora Lane.
“The inspiration behind my Elora Lane lash brand came from my desire to create high-quality, luxurious lashes that enhance and elevate any makeup look,” she explained.
“I’m passionate about empowering people to feel confident and beautiful.”
