A Trailblazer in Women’s Health and Wellness

Samia Gore, the founder of Body Complete Rx, the only Black woman-owned and formulated supplements brand on the market, is breaking barriers by addressing taboo conversations around women’s mental health.

Gore’s personal struggles with mental health, including challenges such as divorce, weight fluctuations, and anxiety, have inspired her to develop a new mental health platform called FoundnWell.

“I have a therapist, but she didn’t necessarily help me get through this season,” Gore shares with ESSENCE about the challenges she faced in the past 10 years.

FoundnWell: A Safe Haven for Minority Founders

FoundnWell is an organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellness of minority founders, entrepreneurs, and executives. The platform aims to provide a safe space and resources for those facing similar struggles.

“FoundnWell is an organization formed to support the mental health and wellness of minority founders, entrepreneurs, and executives,” says Gore.

Gore’s decision to create FoundnWell stems from the alarming statistic that entrepreneurs are twice as likely to report a lifetime history of depression. As an entrepreneur herself, she understands the need for such an initiative firsthand.

Building a Supportive Community

In addition to personal practices like meditation, journaling, exercise, and using favorite products, Gore emphasizes the importance of a supportive community.

“It was the relationships I had with a couple of women founders who, too, were battling anxiety, stress, and bouts of depression that became my safe haven to lean on,” she shares.

While FoundnWell’s Instagram page currently offers mental health resources, the first meetup event, in partnership with Soho House, is scheduled for May 2024. Gore encourages others to stay tuned for updates and events in their area.

A Beacon of Hope and Empowerment

Through FoundnWell, Samia Gore aims to provide a beacon of hope and empowerment for minority founders, entrepreneurs, and executives facing mental health challenges.

“FoundnWell is really an important part of my journey and something that I hope will help others who look like me have the safe spaces, tools, and resources they need to help them through various seasons on this journey,” Gore says.

With her trailblazing efforts, Samia Gore is paving the way for destigmatizing mental health in the Black community and creating a more supportive environment for women in entrepreneurship.
