Sanya Richards-Ross Spreads Inspiration With Her Journey Into Motherhood, Entrepreneurship, And The Evolution Of Her Career
Sanya Richards-Ross: A Multifaceted Powerhouse
Sanya Richards-Ross, the revered four-time Olympic gold medalist and former cast member of the hit reality series Real Housewives of Atlanta, is a self-admitted perfectionist ready to embrace the next phase of her remarkable career.
With an overflowing cup of accomplishments, this serial entrepreneur and TV personality is a true embodiment of balance, business, and branding.
“I’m really hard on myself and I always overthink everything,” she admits, expressing her desire to convey her profound gratitude for her success.
From Olympic Glory to Fashion Trendsetter
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Richards-Ross’s early running talent took her and her family to the USA, where she helped the country win relay gold at the World Championships in 2003 and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Her decade-long global success as an athlete has led to a high public profile, which she has smartly leveraged to secure brand deals and partnerships with companies like Wells Fargo, Nike, and TechnoGym.
Now, Richards-Ross is stepping into the world of fashion with her latest venture: a partnership with global casual fashion brand SHEIN for the Sanya Richards-Ross collection, a capsule line inspired by the strong women in her life, just in time for International Women’s Month.
Empowering Women Through Fashion
Alongside her mother, who is also her manager, and sister, her stylist, Richards-Ross says the collection embodies true empowerment. The size-inclusive line includes tops, jackets, dresses, and pants designed to move with women as they navigate their lives.
“We wanted to ensure that women have pieces in their closet that they can wear for a morning event, breakfast, hanging out with their girlfriends, or going to dinner. We’re so complex. And I wanted the collection to reflect that we’re non-monolithic. It can touch someone from every generation,” she explains.
Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
While Richards-Ross continues to excel in her career, she also embraces the joys of motherhood.
As a new mother again, she acknowledges the importance of finding balance and prioritizing her passions alongside her family commitments.
Advice for Young Athletes: Plan for the Future
Drawing from her own experiences, Richards-Ross offers valuable advice to young athletes, encouraging them to think about their post-athletic careers early on.
“Most athletes don’t talk or think about {financial viability} until they’re so far along in their career,” she says. “I tell young athletes that it’s so important to think about your end game early in your career, because unfortunately, you’re not going to be able to be a high-level athlete forever.”
