Houston activist @laurenashleyhtx is super passionate about protecting public education in her community, something that officials including Houston Independent School District superintendent Mike Miles ( @hisdsupe ) doesn’t seem to prioritize.
Ashley eloquently read Miles for having a hand in intentionally dismantling school systems in Texas by taking power away from the local school board.
He also recently made headlines after he announced that he would be turning libraries into “disciplinary centers.” Under this new system, some of the schools in the HISD school system will not have librarians or media specialists.
All of this has been orchestrated by Texas Governor #GregAbbott.
