Less than six months into this year, we are at 190 shootings in the U.S. and todays shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, adds to that number.
An active shooter alert was issued in Midtown Atlanta shortly after 12 noon, after an armed gunman, who has now been identified as #DeionPatterson, opened fire in a medical office, injuring four and taking the life of one. All of the victims were women, ranging in age from 25 to 71 years old. During a press conference it was announced that the deceased was a 39-year-old woman.
The building in which the shooting appears to have occurred is known as the Northside Family Medicine and Urgent Care Building, which is between 12th and 13th Streets. West Peachtree from 10th to 15th Streets was closed from Noon until approximately 5:19 PM. The search has moved out to Cobb County, after the gunman was said to have stolen a vehicle to make his get away.
24-year old Patterson, a former Coast Guardsman, “…entered the Coast Guard in July 2018 and last served as an Electrician’s Mate Second Class,” a Wednesday statement from the Coast Guard said. “He was discharged from active duty in January 2023.”
We are praying for everyone’s safety, the victims, their families, employees and honestly, all of us. These stories are heavy and increasing in frequency, with no discrimination of where, who, why or when. Please, remember to take time away from the news, check on your people but also, take care of yourself, including your mental health 🫶🏾 #BWLM💕
