WNBA center #BrittneyGriner appeared in a Moscow court today, where she reportedly pleaded not guilty to drug charges. The court extended her detention for another two months.
Rep. Cori Bush spoke out about the lack of news coverage Griner has received during her current detention in Russia.
“We cannot ignore the fact that if Brittney Griner wasn’t a Black woman, it would be plastered across the news that she is being held as a political prisoner in Russia,” Bush tweeted Thursday. “Free Brittney Griner.”
Griner has already been held in Russia for at least three weeks on drug charges. She will reportedly be released May 19th, 2022. We are praying for her safety and her return stateside. #BWLM💕 🙏🏾
