#AbbottElementary has been renewed for season 2, y’all! The renewal news came in a note from #PrincipalAva, played by #JanelleJames.
“The camera crew I hired to showcase all that I’ve made happen at our beautiful school thinks I’m a star. I mean, are we surprised? No, we’re not :),” James wrote in-character. “With that said, it is with great pleasure that I share they’ll be returning for the 2022-2023 school year! That’s right – Abbott Elementary Season Two is coming to a screen near you.”
Created by Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary stars Brunson, James, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
The show is about “a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.”
Per ABC, “the time-period premiere and second telecast of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” hit 9.0 million Total Viewers and scored a 2.93 rating among Adults 18-49 after 35 days of viewing across linear and digital platforms” and the second episode of the show “stood as ABC’s highest-rated comedy telecast (new or returning) in nearly 2 years with Adults 18-49 (2.93 rating).”
Y’all better go off with these stellar ratings!! Congratulations y’all! #BWLM💕
