Move Over Tyler Perry!
#TammyWilliams is a 25+ year vet in the film industry. From writing and producing many projects to owning her first digital production company @TammyDeleFilms_ in 2016, she will now be the first Black woman to become a majority owner of a film studio in Georgia—and it’s already valued at $135 million!
“We’ve been patient,” Williams tell @AJC. “This has not been an overnight thing, this vision for us.” Williams and her business partner #GaryGuidry, founded Cinema South Studios and will break ground on the studio’s 11 soundstages this March. They aim to have two of the soundstages operable by the first quarter of 2023.
“The demand for soundstages is happening globally and the ownership rarely looks like us let alone an African American woman,” Guidry said in a press release. “When I choose to invest, I evaluate the need of the business and the ownership. Investing in Tammy Williams and her team of professionals convinced me that buying the land in Fayetteville, GA was a sound decision with the talents of her at the helm.”
Cinema South Studios will serve as the umbrella for Williams’ production company, Tammy’Dele Films. It will host the education section of Tammy’Dele Films Workshops and the Cinema South Film Academy, where she will conduct job training seminars.
In all its amazingness with many stages, equipment, and opportunity spaces for film artists to utilize and make art, she is taking things a step further by representing for Black women in leadership positions! #BWLM💕
