“This is my AKA lanyard that I’ve had since I crossed … I am so grateful for the sisterhood that I formed in college through AKA,” Wilson shared. “Sometimes being a student-athlete, you’re kind of trapped in this world of just like gym [and] class … that was it.”

Wilson’s time in AKA helped her balance the demands of being an elite athlete with personal development. Being surrounded by her sorority sisters gave her a sense of belonging and support that extended beyond the court.
“When I gained my 60 sisters, I got an opportunity to actually enjoy the college side of it,” she explained. That sense of community helped her grow into a more confident and well-rounded individual.
Over time, those experiences translated into leadership. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become a leader … I have to credit AKA,” Wilson said, highlighting how her college years played a key role in shaping her voice and presence today.

Beyond her achievements and leadership, Wilson also carries personal items that keep her grounded. During a recent feature in Vogue’s “In the Bag” series, she shared that her AKA lanyard is one of her most meaningful items.
In addition, she carries her late grandmother’s coin purse, which holds deep emotional value. “It’s a reminder that she’s constantly with me. I don’t put coins in it because my heart’s in it,” she said.
