Issa Rae Finishes a Full Marathon in Portland

Issa Rae just checked a major goal off her list. On October 6, she completed the 2025 Portland Marathon after running 26.2 miles through the streets of Portland. She joined more than 12,000 runners who took part in the race this year.

The actress and entrepreneur shared the experience on Instagram, giving fans a real look at what the journey was like. This moment showed a different side of Issa, away from the cameras and boardrooms.

She crossed the finish line with a big smile and later held up her marathon medal and race bib. Then she celebrated like any proud runner would — with a box of Voodoo Doughnuts, one of Portland’s most iconic treats.

A Bold Instagram Moment that Inspired Many

Issa documented the entire experience on her Instagram. She posted photos in a bold red workout set before the race. Another photo showed her flashing the medal with joy after the long run.

In a video, she spoke openly about how hard it was to push through the race. “I’m very in pain,” she said with a laugh. She then added, “I can’t believe I did that. I don’t know why I did that. Why did I do that? I didn’t have to do that.”

Her husband, Louis Diame, supported her every step of the way. Issa made sure to shout him out in her caption for being her biggest cheerleader during the run.

Celebrities Show Love and Support

The post quickly lit up with love from celebrities and fans. Keke Palmer called her cool. Tasha Smith said the marathon inspired her to run one too. Tracee Ellis Ross dropped a proud “Bravo.” Even Olympic legend Allyson Felix cheered with clap emojis.

This reaction proved how powerful moments of personal growth can be. Issa wasn’t on a set or at a business meeting. She was showing what it looks like to challenge yourself and win.

Issa Rae Leads by Example

This moment goes beyond a medal. Issa showed that strength comes in many forms. She is a creator, a CEO, and now a marathon runner. Her run reflects her commitment to physical and mental well-being.

Her journey also reminded many Black women of the power of self-care. It showed that you can lead, create, and still carve out space to prioritize your health and joy.

Her achievement at the 2025 Portland Marathon stands as a powerful reminder that personal wins can inspire collective pride.
