Hachette Book Group (HBG) has announced a significant change in its leadership team. Gabrielle Gambrell has been appointed as the new Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. This move marks a notable shift in the company’s executive structure.
Hachette Welcomes Gabrielle Gambrell to Executive Team
David Shelley, CEO of Hachette, made the announcement in early August of 2024. Gambrell will replace Sophie Cottrell, who is stepping down after 16 years in the role. As a new member of the executive management board, Gambrell will oversee several key areas.
Her responsibilities will include managing the Hachette Speakers Bureau, corporate branding, internal and executive communications. Additionally, she will handle media relations, strategic communications, and trade fairs. Gambrell will also lead the company’s environmental program and philanthropic initiatives.
Gabrielle Gambrell’s Impressive Career Background
Gambrell brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Hachette. She began her career in mass communications as a Production and Talent Assistant for Disney. There, she worked on the Emmy Award-winning morning show “Live with Regis and Kelly”.
Most recently, Gambrell served as head of communications for Inclusive Experiences and Technology, Employee Experience at Amazon. Prior to that, she made history at Barnard College of Columbia University. Gambrell became the first Black woman and youngest person to lead the marketing and communications department as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
