Marshalls’ Good Stuff Social Club Empowers Women

Marshalls has achieved a remarkable feat – capturing the essence of joy and transforming it into a space designed for women. Their Good Stuff Social Club aims to connect women with their inner selves, discover their true essence, and let it radiate outwards, enhancing their outer presence.

“It’s about offering tools, resources, and community. Experiences like the ones Marshalls is putting together with the Good Stuff Social Club are impactful. They provide more than styling; they provide community and resources that are essential,” said Zerina Akers, celebrity stylist and founder of Black Owned Everything.

Celebrity Stylist Zerina Akers: A Trailblazer in Fashion

Zerina Akers, a renowned celebrity stylist, has worked with icons like Beyoncé, Chloe x Halle, and Tiffany Haddish. Her impeccable eye for fashion and ability to create stunning looks have solidified her reputation as a go-to stylist in the entertainment industry.

“As a Black woman, I occupy a unique space that not many get to stand in. I can be an influencer, create content, start businesses—I’ve taken advantage of my position to reach as many people as possible,” Akers shared.

Empowering Women Through Style and Self-Expression

For Akers, style and fashion are powerful tools for empowerment and self-expression, especially for Black women. She believes that social media and increased access have profoundly shifted the culture, allowing for more opportunities to offer resources and build community.

“It’s unfortunate to see the decline in recognition for Black brands. It’s up to us to support each other, maintain our community, and uplift one another. That’s why I started Black Owned Everything—to provide a marketplace where Black businesses can access a larger audience and gain visibility,” Akers explained.

Fostering Community and Sharing Knowledge

As part of the Marshalls Good Stuff Style Collective, Akers is committed to sharing her knowledge and experiences with aspiring young women, particularly women of color, looking to break into the fashion industry or other creative fields.

“Research is key to understanding where you fit in. Internships helped me figure out my place. Informational interviews can also be very helpful. You have to love creating, whether you’re getting paid or not,” Akers advised.

Prioritizing Self-Care and Finding Joy

Akers emphasizes the importance of self-care and finding joy in life, which she considers “the good stuff.” She encourages taking time for oneself, whether it’s indulging in a new pair of shoes or celebrating personal achievements.

“Self-care is essential as we strive to be our best selves. Lastly, community—fostering and maintaining connections with those around you is vital,” Akers said.

With her partnership with Marshalls, Akers aims to make fashion accessible to a broader audience, allowing women to express themselves and find joy through style, without breaking the bank.

“It’s a major full-circle moment for me. I’ve shopped at Marshalls since I was young, so partnering with them now feels incredible. It’s about making fashion accessible, which is essential to me. I want to reach women who follow me but might not spend a lot on their outfits. Accessibility in fashion is crucial, and this partnership allows me to connect with a broader audience,” Akers shared.
