LSU’s Bayou Barbie Fulfills Lifelong Dream on the Biggest Stage

New York City – The WNBA welcomed its newest class of talented prospects on Monday night, and among the standouts was Angel Reese, the dynamic forward from Louisiana State University.

Reese, affectionately known as the “Bayou Barbie,” was selected by the Chicago Sky with the 7th overall pick, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in her basketball journey.

“It’s a great moment,” Reese shared. “I’m super excited to go into the W. This has always been a dream for me and a dream come true. And then, with amazing girls. Only 15 girls get to come to New York and have this experience. As a little girl to actually put the dress on and actually go up there and hear your name called.”

The 2024 WNBA Draft welcomed 15 of the most talented women’s basketball players, including top picks Caitlyn Clark, Rickea Jackson, and Alissa Pili. Reese’s selection by the Chicago Sky, who traded an earlier pick to secure her, is a testament to her exceptional skills and the high regard in which she is held by the league.

From the Bayou to the Big Stage

Angel Reese’s path to the WNBA has been marked by her dominance on the collegiate level. During her time at LSU, Reese established herself as one of the most dynamic and versatile players in the game, showcasing her prowess on both ends of the court.

Her unique blend of size, athleticism, and scoring ability made her a nightmare for opposing teams, earning her numerous accolades and recognition as one of the top prospects in the 2024 draft class.

A Bright Future Awaits in Chicago

With her selection by the Chicago Sky, Reese now embarks on the next chapter of her basketball career. The Sky, a perennial contender in the WNBA, will provide Reese with the opportunity to continue her development and compete at the highest level.

As she transitions from the college game to the professional ranks, Reese’s determination, work ethic, and natural talent will undoubtedly be key factors in her success.
